Master Quyen V. Phan Le, was born in Saigon, South Vietnam. The seventh son of Vinh Phan, he was raised in Vietnam for a brief time before the fall of Saigon. His family was forced to embark on a journey to a new world filled with new traditions.
Escaping the war and embarking on a new journey were the less of his worries. People knew that U.S. was known for the land of oppurtunity. To the master it was going to be a ride of his life. The experiences and stories that he shares with his students growing up gives everyone a personal sense that that the master is who he presents himself to be, "The Master". He's learned to understand tradition and incorporates his martial arts skills and life skills into his teaching. He teaches with tradition, but with modern science. Not many, you will find that will incorporate this type of teaching. He has been teaching in the Burke/Springfield area for over fifteen years. He's one of the very few master's that are certified instructors in the fifty mile radius. This gives his sense of teaching a new whirl to martial arts and its benefits.

Master Phan Le wanted to express the challenges he came across in competitions rather than try to sell you on his accomplishments. Each and everyone of us has a decision to choose in life -- some will be of great challenges and some may seem insignificant. The path that Master Phan Le chose was to teach. He approaches this responsibility with grace and authority towards his students. His expectations are now set higher than it otherwise would be.
Try to remember that when choosing a school from which to learn the martial arts, it is not a hobby but an instinct, a way of life. A martial arts teacher will always mention "that the way of life is to act upon the present and not dwell on the past". Remind yourself to what can be lived today and hope for the best as tomorrow will come. Open your mind to the details of learning the aspects of martial arts. We are all learning as each day passes and with the time at hand, take notes of what you learn for this will assist in your daily activities. Listen to your teacher for this existence will further increase your knowledge, your inner peace and wisdom as you come of age. "The teacher will appear, when the student is ready to listen and learn.."
"when you are ready, take out your paper and pen and I will then begin." (Master Phan Le)
With the help of the following assistants, Master Phan Le is able to achieve the goals he has set out for himself as a teacher:
Shaina L. Krause, an assistant to the master, is a diligent individual in her academics as it seems to come very easy for her. She maintains a high GPA average nearing a 4.0, balancing office work, and class instructions. Her personality shines like her sparring "Light Toes", she's very timid and reserved, but once you get to know her she will talk. An AAU & USAT national team member and an international recognized competitor, she continues to strive to be at her best.
Manuel G. Miranda, an assistant to the master, has assisted in many of the black belts accomplishments during training.Preparing the athletes and assist in the instructional courses at Phan University of Martial Arts. he continues to strive in providing exceptional teaching skills and maintains his respect from his junior belts in class. His assistance has always and will continue to make the P.U.M.A. team excel to its furthest reach. Greg, has a very good repoor with the other students as he understands how to approach teaching in a different manner.
Tyler Lam & Bazy Shirwani are the remaining assistants which strives as black belts assisting in the basic reviews for the junior color belts. Exceptional individuals with alot of consistency. They continue to do well in the competitions and instructional courses.

Congratulations to your convincing demonstration yesterday of Martial Arts. It was like a great firework, you could see and imagine all the work behind it and it burned up in an hour with flares and lightnings and gave a wonderful picture of the Arts.
